The President inaugurated Jagadguru Kripalu University
Cuttack: The youth are the greatest asset of our nation. For the effective utilization of this asset, our universities should create an environment where young people can fully showcase their talents and realize their dreams and aspirations. They must also be imparted value-based education. The knowledge of youth becomes meaningful only when they dedicate themselves to the service of humanity and contribute to the nation’s development. President Droupadi Murmu stated that India’s youth will play a vital role in building a developed nation by making proper use of their wisdom, knowledge, talent, and strength.
Attending as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of Jagadguru Kripalu University at Banki Bauras in Cuttack district, the President advised the youth to take on a significant role in nation-building.
President Murmu further said that the vision of a developed Odisha by 2036 and a developed India by 2047 has been set, in which universities have a major role to play. She praised Odisha’s contribution to the development of education and stated that education is not only a means of acquiring knowledge but also the foundation for personality development, social transformation, and building a prosperous future for the nation. Odisha’s land is known for its rich traditions of knowledge, culture, spirituality, and service. This land has, for ages, conveyed messages of harmony, compassion, and human welfare. The President expressed hope that this university would also become a strong medium for serving the nation by integrating India’s ancient cultural and spiritual traditions with modern education.
Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, who also attended the event, appreciated Odisha’s role in successfully implementing the National Education Policy. He stated that a university is not merely a center for acquiring knowledge, but a sacred place for developing ideals, building character, and silently shaping the destiny of the nation. Education should not be limited to imparting knowledge but should also nurture wisdom, integrity, compassion, and a spirit of service, he added.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, attending as another guest, said that every institution must promote the fundamental values of Indian civilization along with modern knowledge and science. This inspires students to follow the right path. The government has been emphasizing skill development along with technical education and has allocated ₹72,000 crore to strengthen infrastructure. While there is a goal to establish universities in every district, steps have initially been taken to set them up in four districts, the Chief Minister stated.
The event was also attended by Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj and Swami Mukundananda, the founder and president of Jagadguru Kripalu University.
