Dubai: Indian-origin finance professional Lakshmanan Meyyappan has earned a place in the Guinness World Records as the world’s youngest male Chartered Accountant, achieving the distinction at the age of just 16 years and 141 days.

According to Guinness World Records, Meyyappan qualified in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on June 30, 2021. Guinness lists him as the youngest male Chartered Accountant, with his record officially associated with his professional accounting qualification.

Meyyappan began pursuing the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) qualification during the COVID-19 pandemic after completing his Class 10 examinations. Starting at the age of 15, he completed the programme in about a year, an achievement that ultimately led to the Guinness recognition.

Now based in Dubai, Meyyappan has continued to build his career in finance. He has also earned the CFA charter and is pursuing an MSc in Finance, while working as a Senior Research Analyst focusing on investments, financial research and strategic decision-making.

His extraordinary academic journey has been driven by discipline and a strong interest in finance. Rather than treating professional qualifications as a race, Meyyappan has said that his focus has been on understanding finance and developing skills that remain useful in the real world.

The Guinness World Records recognition has brought international attention to his achievement and highlighted the possibilities for young students pursuing professional qualifications at an early age.
