The auspicious timing for Nuakhai has been fixed in Balangir
Balangir: Today, the auspicious timing (lagna) for Nuakhai has been fixed in Balangir. The Nuakhai lagna for Balangir district has been announced from the Shailashree Palace of the Patna Maharaja. The auspicious “Amrit Bela” will be from 9:36 AM to 10:10 AM on September 15.
On the occasion of Bhadraba Shukla Panchami tithi, Tuesday, September 15, offerings of the new harvest (Nabanna) will be made to Maa Pataneswari and Maa Samaleswari between 9:36 AM and 10:10 AM. After this ritual, the people of Balangir district will partake in the new harvest, informed Royal Priest Santosh Kumar Das. The timing was finalized at Shailashree Palace in the presence of astrologers and members of the Pandit Mahasabha.
It is worth mentioning that Nuakhai is a mass festival. In villages and urban localities, after the ritual offering of the new harvest is completed, all family members receive the Nabanna prasad from the head of the family. After eating, younger members pay respects to elders by bowing down and seek their blessings. Later, people enjoy traditional dishes along with the new harvest meal and visit elders in their village or neighborhood to offer respect.
During this time, people forget past differences and come together in harmony. Even family disputes are resolved, and unity is restored. This spirit of togetherness is one of the key features of the Nuakhai festival.
