Jamankira: Police in Jamankira have arrested a 37-year-old man for allegedly using a woman’s private photographs and handwritten letters to disrupt her proposed marriage following a fallout in their long-term relationship.

The arrested accused has been identified as Ashish Chand (37), a native of Beheratal village under Buden police limits in Bargarh district. He was reportedly residing at Bhutali Chhak at the time of his arrest.

According to information available, the woman and Ashish had allegedly been in a relationship for around five to six years. However, after her marriage was arranged with another man, tensions reportedly developed between the two.

Police said the accused allegedly placed some private photographs of the woman along with a three-page handwritten letter near the residence of the prospective groom’s family. Following the incident, the groom’s family reportedly called off the proposed marriage.

The woman subsequently approached Jamankira police and lodged a complaint against Ashish. Acting on the complaint, police registered a case and launched an investigation.

During the investigation, police arrested the accused and produced him before the court for further legal proceedings.

The incident has once again highlighted concerns over the misuse of private photographs and personal communications to harass or intimidate individuals following disputes in relationships.
