7 Bulls Killed in Pickup Truck Accident in Mayurbhanj; Driver Flees
Mayurbhanj, Odisha: Seven bulls were killed and eight others were rescued alive after a pickup truck carrying cattle overturned near Handiphuta Chhak under Thakurmunda police limits in Mayurbhanj district early Tuesday morning.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 3 a.m. when a Mahindra pickup truck bearing registration number OD-29-KQ-7891 was travelling from Anandapur towards Thakurmunda. The vehicle was allegedly moving at high speed when the driver noticed a police patrolling vehicle.
The driver reportedly attempted to turn the vehicle back towards Anandapur but lost control, causing the pickup truck to overturn near Handiphuta Chhak. Local labourers who were on their way to work reportedly broke open the vehicle and rescued the trapped bulls.
Police reached the spot after being informed about the accident. Thakurmunda police seized the pickup truck and launched an investigation.
The seven dead bulls were examined by a veterinary officer and subsequently buried in a nearby forest after post-mortem procedures.
Meanwhile, the driver reportedly abandoned the vehicle and fled from the spot, taking advantage of the darkness. Police are continuing their investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the cattle transportation and identify the absconding driver.
