Abduction Attempt Foiled: Three Schoolgirls Allegedly Drugged with Chocolate in Mayurbhanj
Mayurbhanj, Odisha: An alleged attempt to abduct three schoolgirls after giving them drug-laced chocolates has triggered panic in Burupalasa village under Tiring Police Station in Mayurbhanj district.
According to reports, the incident occurred when the three girls were playing near the Burupalasa Primary School and Anganwadi centre. Three unidentified men reportedly arrived on a scooter and allegedly tried to force the girls to eat chocolates suspected to contain intoxicating substances.
When the girls initially refused, the accused allegedly threatened them. The girls later consumed the chocolates and reportedly became unconscious.
After the incident came to light, villagers and school authorities rushed the girls to the Bahalda Community Health Centre. As their condition was reportedly serious, they were later shifted to the Rairangpur Sub-Divisional Hospital for further treatment.
The three girls were identified as two Class V students, Basanti Marandi and Sugi Murmu, and a Class I student, Parbati Hembram.
Tiring Police reached the hospital after receiving information and launched an investigation. Police are also searching for the three unidentified suspects who reportedly fled the area.
However, there appears to be a discrepancy regarding the exact location of the incident. While villagers claimed that the girls were given the chocolates inside the school premises, the Block Education Officer reportedly said the incident took place outside the school.
The incident has caused widespread concern among residents, while further details are awaited from the police investigation. As of the time of the report, no police case had reportedly been registered.
