Imran Khan Meets Wife Bushra Bibi and Sister at Adiala Jail After Nine Months
Islamabad: Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan met his wife, Bushra Bibi, and his sister Noreen Niazi at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, following a recent Supreme Court order allowing weekly family meetings amid concerns over his health.
The meeting came after a gap of around nine months without regular family contact. Noreen Niazi reportedly met Khan for about 15 minutes inside the jail’s conference room. Their conversation focused mainly on Khan’s health and his ongoing medical concerns.
Noreen also informed him about the Supreme Court’s direction regarding his medical treatment and the order for his transfer to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad for medical evaluation. The court had directed that Khan be moved from jail to the private hospital within 48 hours.
Separate Meeting with Bushra Bibi
Jail authorities also arranged a separate meeting between Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, which reportedly lasted around 30 to 35 minutes. Bushra Bibi is also incarcerated at Adiala Jail.
Authorities reportedly restricted the participation of PTI politicians and some other family members during the meetings. Officials also warned that the family visits could be cancelled if they were used for political messaging.
The Supreme Court’s intervention came amid growing concerns over Khan’s health. The court ordered his transfer to a private hospital and allowed regular family contact as part of measures aimed at safeguarding his health and well-being.
Meanwhile, the Pakistani government has challenged the Supreme Court’s hospital-transfer order, arguing against moving Khan to a private facility.
