Bhubaneswar, August 21, 2026: The Odisha government on Friday effected a major reshuffle at the senior Indian Police Service (IPS) level, assigning new responsibilities to several senior police officers.
According to the latest government order, 2003-batch IPS officer Himanshu Kumar Lal, who was serving as Inspector General of Police (IGP), Northern Range, Sambalpur, has been transferred and posted as IG of the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Bhubaneswar, with additional charge of Inspector General of the Special Task Force (STF).
The reshuffle comes as part of a wider reorganisation of senior police responsibilities across Odisha. Himanshu Lal’s new assignment places him in charge of two important investigative units dealing with economic offences and specialised crime.
