Naktideul : Residents of Kamalanali and Badbil villages under Ghosaramal Gram Panchayat in Naktideul block have urged the authorities to construct a bridge over the Champali River, which has become a major obstacle for villagers.

The villagers recently met MLA Prasanna Acharya during his visit to attend a Panchayat Samiti meeting and submitted a memorandum seeking construction of the bridge. The MLA reportedly assured them that he would discuss the issue with the district administration.

Located amid forested and hilly terrain, Kamalanali and Badbil villages face serious difficulties every monsoon. The absence of a bridge over the Champali River has reportedly affected access to emergency healthcare, with villagers claiming that four patients have lost their lives due to the lack of timely medical assistance.

The villages are around 10 km from the Panchayat, and residents face difficulties travelling for higher education, collecting ration supplies and carrying out other essential work. During the rainy season, the river carries a strong current, effectively cutting the villages off from the rest of the area.

Villagers said they have been demanding a permanent road and bridge for nearly 10 years and have approached leaders and ministers from different political parties, but their demand is yet to be fulfilled. They have once again appealed to the administration to take immediate steps for construction of the bridge.
