Rourkela Police Seize Large Quantity of Fake Branded Watches, Four Arrested
Rourkela, August 23: Plant Site Police in Rourkela conducted a raid and seized a large quantity of counterfeit watches bearing the names of reputed brands, while arresting four persons in connection with the illegal business.
The arrested accused have been identified as M.D. Sohel Ahmed, Imran Ahmed, M.D. Umar Alam and M.D. Asim. All four are residents of the Plant Site police station area in Rourkela.
According to police, the accused were allegedly supplying counterfeit watches of well-known brands across Rourkela city and different parts of the district. They reportedly sold fake watches to customers while charging prices equivalent to those of genuine branded products.
Police launched the operation after receiving complaints from several watch companies regarding the circulation and sale of counterfeit products. Acting on the complaints, Plant Site Police conducted a raid and recovered a substantial quantity of fake branded watches.
The police are now investigating the source of the counterfeit watches and trying to determine the scale of the illegal network. Investigators are also examining whether more people are involved in the racket and whether the accused had connections with suppliers operating outside Rourkela.
Further action is expected after completion of the investigation.
