Boudh, : Residents of Kantamal village in Boudh district’s Kantamal block have raised concerns over the deteriorating condition of Lunduru Bandh, a government-owned water body used by villagers for bathing and other daily needs.

Located on the southern outskirts of the village, the water body, recorded under Khata No. 296 and Plot No. 811, covers about 17.23 decimals and falls under the Minor Irrigation (M.I.P.) Division, Boudh.

Villagers allege that the pond is now choked with silt, algae, weeds and wild vegetation, making it difficult to use. They claim repeated complaints were submitted to the administration, including at grievance camps, and that the District Collector had assured them that the pond would be cleaned and restored.

However, residents say little has been done so far. They have also questioned the lack of action despite the water body being under a government department.

Villagers further alleged that political representatives had made promises to clean and develop the pond but have not followed through. These allegations could not be independently verified.

Expressing concern over possible health risks from using the stagnant water, residents have urged the administration to undertake immediate cleaning and restoration work. They warned of an agitation if the authorities fail to address the issue.
