Lakhisarai, Bihar: At least seven devotees were killed and several others injured in a stampede-like incident at the Ashok Dham Temple in Lakhisarai district of Bihar on Monday morning, August 17, 2026.
The incident occurred as a large number of devotees gathered at the temple to offer water to Lord Shiva during the holy month of Shravan. The heavy rush reportedly led to a sudden surge in the crowd, resulting in panic and a stampede-like situation.
According to Sub-Divisional Police Officer Shivam Kumar, seven casualties have been reported. Officials are investigating the circumstances that triggered the incident. Initial reports have mentioned a possible electric-pole-related incident, but authorities have said that the exact cause will be established only after verification and investigation.
