Youth Killed, Four Seriously Injured in Head-On Car Collision in Dhenkanal

Kamakshyanagar, Dhenkanal: A 32-year-old youth was killed and four others were seriously injured after two cars collided head-on on National Highway 53 near the Shibilapashi overbridge under Kamakshyanagar police station limits in Dhenkanal district late Sunday night.

The deceased has been identified as Bipin Behera (32) of Kaluria village. According to reports, a Tata Safari was travelling from Parjang towards Kamakshyanagar when it collided head-on with another car coming from the opposite direction on the Shibilapashi overbridge.

The impact was severe, reportedly due to the high speed of both vehicles. The front portions of both cars were badly damaged and their airbags were deployed. Some occupants were reportedly thrown onto the road following the collision.

After witnessing the accident, local residents alerted an ambulance and helped rescue the injured. They were initially taken to Kamakshyanagar Medical Centre for treatment.

Doctors later declared Bipin Behera dead while undergoing treatment. The four seriously injured persons were subsequently shifted to Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital for further treatment. Their identities have not yet been confirmed.

Kamakshyanagar Police have begun an investigation into the accident. The exact cause of the collision will be established after the investigation.
