Another Low-Pressure System Likely Around August 23; Rain Expected to Return After Three-Day Break
Bhubaneswar, Odisha: Odisha is likely to witness another spell of rainfall after a brief three-day break, with a fresh low-pressure area expected to develop over the Bay of Bengal around August 22–23, according to the latest weather forecast.
The upcoming weather system is likely to form over the northwestern Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas, bringing renewed rainfall activity to several parts of Odisha.
According to weather forecasts, the state may experience relatively reduced rainfall activity for around three days before the new system influences the region. Once the low-pressure area develops, rainfall is expected to increase again across several districts.
Several districts in northern, western and coastal Odisha may receive moderate to heavy rainfall under the influence of the system. The districts likely to be affected include Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Subarnapur, Deogarh, Kalahandi and Balangir.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has been closely monitoring the evolving weather pattern over the Bay of Bengal. Recent weather systems have already brought heavy rainfall to several parts of Odisha, with flooding and rising river levels reported in some areas.
The formation of another low-pressure system could once again intensify monsoon activity across the state. Residents, particularly those in low-lying and flood-prone areas, have been advised to remain alert and follow official weather advisories.
The exact intensity, movement and impact of the upcoming system will become clearer as it develops over the next few days.
