Rourkela Circuit House Gun Seizure: Three Accused Sent to Two-Day Police Remand
Rourkela, August 20, 2026: Three accused arrested in connection with the seizure of firearms from the Rourkela Circuit House have been taken into two-day police remand as investigators intensify their probe into the case.
Raghunathpalli Police had earlier arrested seven persons in connection with the recovery of four firearms, nine live rounds of ammunition and magazines from the Circuit House. The accused have been identified as Bikash Dunguri, Narayan Sahu, Sagar Sahu, Kartar Singh, Biki Sharma, Rajesh Srivastava and Rajesh Sahu.
Police have taken Bikash Dunguri, Sagar Sahu and Rajesh Sahu on two-day remand for detailed interrogation. Investigators are questioning them about the alleged illegal arms trade, the source of the weapons, their possible political links and the purpose behind their prolonged stay at the government facility.
According to the investigation, the accused had allegedly stayed at the Circuit House for around 20 days. Police are trying to determine who arranged their accommodation, why the rooms were booked and whether the accused were planning any criminal activity.
Questions have also been raised over the booking of two Circuit House rooms allegedly in the name of an influential young political leader. Police are examining the official records and CCTV footage of the premises to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the stay.
The police are also investigating allegations that the accused misbehaved with and assaulted Circuit House staff and allegedly used the premises to upload social media videos threatening rivals. The role of Circuit House officials and staff is also under scrutiny as part of the ongoing investigation.
With seven arrests already made, investigators are now focusing on identifying the source of the firearms and determining whether the accused had links with a larger criminal network.
The investigation remains underway, and police are expected to reveal further details after the completion of the remand period.
