Sundargarh : Renowned Odia litterateur and former Vice-President of the Odisha Sahitya Akademi, Giri Dandasena, has passed away, leaving the literary fraternity of Odisha in deep mourning. His demise marks the end of an important chapter in the world of Odia literature, particularly in western Odisha, where he was widely respected for his literary contributions and cultural influence.

Giri Dandasena had served as the Vice-President of the Odisha Sahitya Akademi from May 18, 2011, to February 8, 2015, contributing significantly to the promotion and development of Odia language and literature. His association with the Akademi earned him recognition as one of the prominent literary personalities of the state.

A distinguished writer, Dandasena was known for his dedication to literature and his lifelong efforts to enrich Odia literary culture. Over the years, he received appreciation from readers, writers and literary organisations for his valuable contribution to the preservation and growth of Odia literature.
