Son-in-Law Allegedly Kills Father-in-Law in Sambalpur’s Bamra
Sambalpur, August 26, 2026: A 58-year-old man was allegedly killed by his son-in-law following a domestic dispute at Mahulchapal village under Govindpur police limits in Bamra block of Sambalpur district.
The deceased has been identified as Kalo Kachhap (58). Police have detained his son-in-law, Anthony Kisan (35), in connection with the alleged murder.
According to reports, a quarrel had taken place between Anthony Kisan and his wife, Amita Kisan, following which she left for her parental home at Pindapathar village. Later, her father Kalo Kachhap reportedly went to his son-in-law’s house.
During the late hours of Tuesday night, an altercation allegedly broke out between Anthony and his father-in-law. Anthony is accused of attacking Kalo with a sharp grass-cutting weapon, causing fatal injuries. The victim reportedly died at the spot.
On Wednesday morning, Amita returned to her husband’s house and reportedly found her father lying on the verandah with severe bleeding from his head. He had already succumbed to his injuries.
After receiving information, Govindpur Police Station IIC Padmalaya Sahu reached the spot and initiated an investigation. The accused allegedly fled after the incident but was later found hiding in a nearby forest and detained by police.
Police have registered a case at Govindpur Police Station under Case No. 128/2026 and Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway to establish the exact circumstances and motive behind the alleged murder.
