Eight AYUSH Centres Remain Non-Functional Despite New Buildings
Naktideul: Health services in rural areas of Naktideul block have reportedly been affected as as many as eight AYUSH health centres remain non-functional despite having newly constructed buildings.
According to the report, the centres were established with the objective of providing alternative and traditional healthcare services to people in rural areas. However, the facilities are yet to become fully operational, leaving the newly constructed buildings largely unused.
The non-functioning of the centres has reportedly caused inconvenience to residents, particularly those from remote villages who depend on government healthcare facilities. Instead of receiving AYUSH-based treatment close to their homes, people are being forced to travel to other health facilities for medical consultation and treatment.
The situation has also raised questions over the utilisation of government funds spent on constructing the buildings and developing the required infrastructure. Locals have urged the health authorities to take immediate steps to make all eight AYUSH centres functional and ensure regular availability of doctors, medicines and other necessary facilities.
Residents have demanded that the concerned authorities conduct an assessment of the existing infrastructure and address staffing and operational issues at the earliest. They said that making the centres functional would strengthen healthcare delivery in rural areas and provide people with easier access to AYUSH services.
The health department is expected to take appropriate measures to address the issue and ensure that the newly constructed facilities are put to effective public use.
